Enzo Fernandez’s club imposed ban for two games was the big talking point of the international break in the end, and even a big win in the cup since then hasn’t been able to quite bury those headlines.
The Athletic have a piece today which covers the whole situation and tries to answer a few questions about where we stand. What’s most interesting about it is the insight it gives on how Liam Rosenior is seen inside the dressing room.
He’s known as a “nice guy” according to one source, who admits he doesn’t have the same “aura” as predecessors Mauricio Pochettino and Enzo Maresca had. That is pretty clear from the interactions you see on the pitch. It was always going to be an issue, given Rosenior’s lack of experience at the top level both as a manager and player.
The good news is that his “nice” image has perhaps been helpful in smoothing things over with Fernandez. Apparently things are “back to normal” and there are no hard feelings.
The word on the street from Enzo’s camp is that they have “made peace” with Chelsea, which is promising.
With Enzo out, Liam Rosenior has a few interesting decisions to make in midfield against Man City this weekend.
