Werder Bremen said in a statement on Tuesday afternoon that Niclas Füllkrug has rejoined on loan from West Ham, with no option to buy.

The 33-year-old returns three years after leaving for Borussia Dortmund. He remains under contract at West Ham until June 2028.

He came through the club’s youth ranks and was decisive 65 times in 149 appearances.

After his €27m move to West Ham, where he struggled to justify the fee, and an unsuccessful loan at AC Milan, the Germany international with 24 caps hopes to relaunch in the Bundesliga.

Bremen are continuing a low-cost window and this is already their 11th arrival.
