Reports from Il Giorno have suggested that Como’s Nico Paz could return to Real Madrid for €9 million next summer.

The 21-year-old talent left the Spanish capital in August last year, yet a very specific contract could see him head back to the Bernabeu for a price far below his current market estimation. Como and Real appear to have a solid agreement in place, having mutually rejected Tottenham’s €70 million offer this summer.

It seems that certain permutations could have seen Xabi Alonso’s side bring Paz back to Madrid on the 30th of June this year for €8 million. However, they declined to exercise the first option in his contract, allowing him to play out another season at Como, given that they can buy him out in 2026 for €9 million or in 2027 for €10 million.

A second clause gives Como the right to sell him, receiving 50% of the sale price, with Madrid having the option to match the offer and bring him back to Spain.

With that in mind, Como would be better off selling Paz in January and collecting half of the €70 million valuation, rather than losing him in June for €9 million. In recent months, I Lariani have attempted to remove all these clauses and acquire Paz 100%, but Real Madrid have refused.

There is now a possibility that a January exit can be attempted by the Italian side.
