Ainhize, partner of Williams, shared a selfie with the Athletic forward. Iñaki and his wife, Patricia Morales, also travelled to New Jersey to be part of a historic day.

Soon after, Williams posted a playful video celebrating his medal with Lamine Yamal, his constant companion in La Roja.

He said the squad were very happy and, after a difficult year, he expressed in colourful terms that he had been through hard times and now felt it was the happiest day of his life.
