Nicolas Rabuel, trained at OL and formerly Valenciennes coach, has been appointed head coach of FBBP 01, replacing David Le Frapper. According to Le Progres, he has signed for one season with an option for another.
For the 48-year-old, it is a return to his roots at Bourg-Péronnas. He said he arrived on Tuesday to plenty of smiles, which set the tone, and that he felt at home.
Rabuel grew up in Mézériat, around 15 km from the club’s training centre, so the surroundings are familiar.
He spent most of his life outside the department after joining OL at 10 and a half. A former left-back, he played for eight clubs and featured at every level from the CFA to Ligue 1, turning out for Boulogne-sur-Mer in 2009-2010.
He added that he had travelled a lot, which was not how he had pictured things at the start.
