Nicolas Usai appointed by Stade de Reims on two-year deal | OneFootball

Nicolas Usai has been appointed head coach of Stade de Reims. The club said in a statement that the 52-year-old has signed for two seasons.

The post was vacant with Karel Geraerts no longer in charge. The Belgian left after a campaign that finished sixth in Ligue 2, which did not secure a play-off place.

Reims quickly identified Usai, who had been available since late January after his spell at Pau ended.

He has overseen 196 matches at this level with Châteauroux, Nîmes and Pau.

The Marseille-born coach was immediately drawn to the project, saying he knows the division well and believes the club is structured to aim higher. He arrives fresh and full of energy and is eager to get started.

After Oswald Tanchot’s appointment at Nancy, Usai was the second coach named on Thursday.
