Nigeria: the Super Eagles squad for AFCON 2025 with several returns and new faces
Nigeria has officially unveiled its squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Eric Chelle has selected 28 players to represent the Super Eagles, blending established stars with promising young talents.
The key players are present. Wilfred Ndidi, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, and Victor Osimhen will form the backbone of the team. Francis Uzoho returns as goalkeeper after his stint at Omonia, while Paul Onuachu rejoins the group following a few absences.
Several young players make their debut. In defense, Ryan Alebiosu from Blackburn Rovers and Igoh Ogbu from Slavia Prague join the team to bolster the central backline.
In midfield, youth takes center stage with the inclusion of Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, developed at Inter Milan and Remo Stars Academy, along with Usman Muhammed, who plays in Israel, and Tochukwu Nnadi, a former pillar of the Flying Eagles.
Up front, Lawal Salim Fago, a striker based in Croatia, brings a fresh attacking option.
Nigeria will compete in Group C alongside Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda. The campaign kicks off on December 23 against Tanzania at the Fès Sports Complex. The group’s key clash is set for December 27 against Tunisia, already billed as a decisive battle for qualification.
