Following the release of a video by the Bundesliga outfit, Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac and BVB keeper Gregor Kobel have both commented on Chelsea defender Aarón Anselmino’s unexpected departure at a Champions League pre-match press conference. Chelsea unexpectedly opted to recall Anselmino from his Dortmund loan stint early yesterday.
“Aarón was a super guy,” Kobel said. “Both on and off the pitch. I loved having his intensity and aggression working ahead of me. I’m thus very sad that we no longer have him. He was a great guy. It was both a nice and emotional event [when we learned that he was leaving us].“
“As Gregor just said, he was a wonderful lad,” Kovac said. “He was beyond an A+ personality. As a player, he needed a little adjustment time in part due to his injury. He nevertheless integrated without delay and found a place in this team.
“What you saw yesterday illustrated just how emotional it was both for him and for all of us,” Kovac continued. “It ultimately shows how unified we all are and what we’ll continue to need in order to be successful.
“This occurrence was very sad for us,” Kovac concluded. “But so it goes in the footballing business sometimes. We wish him all the best whilst hoping to achieve the success we hoped to accomplish together with him.“
