According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, a noted Leeds United supporter, flashed a quick Leeds salute to the camera before kick-off at Soccer Aid on Sunday.

The annual charity match was staged at West Ham's London Stadium, a week after Leeds lost 3-0 there in their final 2025/26 Premier League game. The World XI, coached by 100m icon Usain Bolt, started the Dane at right-back.

Coster-Waldau lasted roughly 20 minutes before being replaced by Gladiators star Nitro. The match was goalless when he departed, so he left with an individual clean sheet.

England beat the World XI 3-2 and £16.5million was raised for UNICEF UK. Goals came from Jermain Defoe, Michael Essien and Tim Cahill.

Best known as Jaime Lannister in the US series Game of Thrones, the 55-year-old earned two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor. Since 2019 he has appeared in The Last Thing He Told Me and BBC drama King & Conqueror, portraying William, Duke of Normandy.

He endeared himself to Leeds fans with a BBC video after the 2019/20 Championship promotion, leaving a voicemail to thank Marcelo Bielsa for his impact. On Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2019, he jokingly sketched an ending where a figure named Bielsa arrives and transforms the world for the good.
