Manchester United have improved significantly this season following the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko over the summer. The trio cost in excess of £200 million and have enjoyed contrasting fortunes so far.
Mbeumo has been very quick off the blocks and is the Red Devils’ top scorer this season with six goals from 15 games. Sesko, meanwhile, has found the back of the net twice in 12 games and is currently sidelined with a knee injury.
Cunha, on the other hand, has shown flashes of brilliance but has managed just one goal in 12 appearances in all competitions. As such, despite investing heavily in the attack this summer, the Premier League giants are eyeing further additions to their frontline.
United finished 15th in the league table last season, managing just 44 goals in 38 games. They are now eighth in the Premier League after 14 games, two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
The general belief is that adding more quality in the middle of the park will help the Red Devils hit a higher gear. The English giants are already planning to upgrade their midfield next year, with multiple names already linked with the club.
Ruben Amorim’s team have scored 22 goals in the league so far, but have struggled for consistency. As goalscoring remains a problem, it now appears that attacking additions cannot be entirely ruled out in 2026.
According to TEAMtalk, United are among a handful of English clubs keeping a close eye on Anderlecht forward Nilson Angulo. The Ecuadorian arrived at Lotto Park in July 2022 and endured a slow start to life in Brussels.
However, the 22 year old has come into his own this season, registering four goals and eight assists in 22 appearances across all competitions.

Angulo’s performances have alerted United, although a move is not expected to materialise in the winter transfer window.
“A number of English sides have been alerted to the progress of Anderlecht winger Nilson Angulo, TEAMtalk can reveal. It is believed more than half a dozen clubs were in Brussels last month to see him score the winner in the title clash with Union SG.”
“We can reveal that amongst the clubs looking closely Angulo are Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Brentford, Brighton and Leeds United.”
“Angulo himself is playing so well and is going to the World Cup finals with Ecuador and for that reason, it is not definite that he will be leaving in January, as he is focused on making it to North America next summer.”
Angulo primarily operates in the left forward role, so he could be a fine alternative to Matheus Cunha in Ruben Amorim’s side. The Ecuadorian is also known for his work ethic, which will suit the Portuguese head coach’s tactics as well.
Angulo registered 4.12 successful take-ons per 90 minutes last season, so his pace and trickery could be a welcome addition to United’s attack. However, the player is under contract until 2029, so prising him away will not be easy.
Meanwhile, with the Red Devils’ expected to prioritise midfield reinforcements next year, it is unclear if they will have funds available for attacking additions, especially after investing a fortune in the frontline this summer.
