The El Clasico rivalry roared back to life as Real Madrid clinched crucial 2-1 victory over Barcelona seizing sole control of La Liga's top spot.

The win witnessed by over 78,000 fans was propelled by ruthless finish from Kylian Mbappe and the all around brilliance of Jude Bellingham.

The result breaks 4 match winless streak in Clasicos for Madrid lifting them to 27 point and giving them 5 point cushion over their rivals after 10 game.

The goals

The scoring drama unfolded as follows:

  2. 1–1 (38’): Fermin Lopez leveled the score capitalizing on cut back from Marcus Rashford.
  3. 2–1 (43’): Eder Militao kept deep cross alive allowing Bellingham to arrive and tap in the winner. This made Bellingham the first Englishman ever to both score and assist in La Liga Clasico.

How the match unfolded

The game was instantly chaotic. Early on , a penalty awarded to Vinícius Jr was overturned by VAR and Mbappe stunner was disallowed for offside within first 10 minute.

After falling behind 1-2, Barcelona gifted Madrid penalty via Eric Garcia handball. However Barca's goalkeeper Szczesny denied Mbappe from the spot keeping the home side's hopes alive.

Any chance of comeback evaporated deep into stoppage time when Pedri received second yellow card in the 90+10th minute.

Opta data confirmed Madrid's dominance noting this was their 9th consecutive home league win, their longest such streak since February 2015.

For Mbappe the goal maintained his incredible form marking his seventh straight league match with goal.
