Leeds United could target relegated Premier League clubs this summer, identifying nine options across West Ham, Burnley and Wolves. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, three from each could suit Daniel Farke’s squad.
At West Ham, reports after the final day pointed to more than £150m in sales. Mateus Fernandes, 21, had three goals and four assists, but could be out of reach after a £40m move and Champions League interest.
Jarrod Bowen, 29, delivered nine goals and 11 assists. Leeds also want a left-footed right-winger and a left-footed centre-back, making Konstantinos Mavropanos, a three-goal Greek international, an appealing yet pricey option.
With Pascal Struijk entering his final year, left-sided cover is sensible. Burnley’s Maxime Esteve, 23, impressed and is linked with Everton and Bournemouth.
Lesley Ugochukwu, 22, cost over £20m and scored three, including against Leeds in October, thriving box to box where Anton Stach or Sean Longstaff operate. Additions there may prioritise a higher-floor deputy for Ethan Ampadu.
Florentino Luis arrived on loan, with a roughly £20m option suggesting Benfica could sell the 26-year-old, a defensive-minded pick if Ilia Gruev were to depart.
Wolves’ Ladislav Krejci joined on loan from Girona ahead of a permanent £26m deal. The 27-year-old plays left of a back three or four and can step into midfield, though box defending is a weaker area.
Joao Gomes has been near ever-present and is on Champions League radars, so would be ambitious. At left wing-back, Hugo Bueno, 23, could compete with Gabriel Gudmundsson and continue developing.
