Less than a week remains for FC Barcelona to play their first home game of the 2025/26 season in La Liga, but there is still no definite announcement about where it will take place.

The Blaugrana have held out hope to secure the required permits in time to return to the Spotify Camp Nou for the Valencia clash on 14 September.

However, everything suggests that the move is now ruled out, with the first-phase works (capacity 27,000) still lacking the Final Works Certificate and, consequently, the First Occupancy Licence required by the Barcelona City Council.

No return to Camp Nou this month

In fact, according to the latest update from Cadena SER, Barcelona are pretty much ruling out returning to Camp Nou in September.

As per the report, Barcelona and La Liga have set Tuesday as the deadline to confirm where next Sunday’s clash vs Valencia will be staged.

The Catalans are working to prepare Estadi Johan Cruyff, which is undergoing final adjustments and awaiting approval from league inspectors. If cleared, it will host the fixture against Los Che.

Barcelona are taking the situation game by game, but as things stand, a return to Camp Nou remains unlikely in September.

Instead, the Blaugrana are internally planning to host Valencia on Sunday at Estadi Cruyff, and the subsequent fixtures against Getafe (21 September) and Real Sociedad (28 September) will move to Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys at Montjuic.

The next major home date after that will be the Champions League tie against PSG on 1 October, just three days after facing La Real, which will also likely be played at Montjuic.
