Barcelona reminded Newcastle United why they are one of football’s greatest teams by securing a 7-2 victory over the Magpies at Camp Nou.

There were five different scorers for Barcelona on the night, including the likes of Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and even Marc Bernal.

But there were largely positives to take from their thumping win over Newcastle United; Eric Garcia’s substitution request had soured the mood a little.

The Spaniard asked to be replaced just 20 minutes into the game, triggering fears of a potential injury, especially after he had missed the last two matches.

No real concerns for Barcelona

According to Mundo Deportivo, there is no cause for concern for Barcelona fans as Eric Garcia’s early substitution on the night was merely a precaution.

Barcelona did not even conduct any medical tests on Thursday, knowing the defender had been suffering from an overload.

That is why Hansi Flick did not take any risks with the Spaniard and replaced him quite early.

Even in the last few matches, the Barcelona coach has been very accommodating with the former Manchester City centre-back.

Barcelona’s Eric Garcia boost comes on the same day when Joan Garcia, too, has been declared fit to play in the upcoming matches despite receiving a fresh injury scare.

The big question, though, is whether or not Hansi Flick will take the risk and start Eric Garcia in the upcoming league match against Rayo Vallecano.

It is unlikely that he will, especially considering the fact that the Catalans will have a much bigger challenge coming up against Atletico Madrid at the start of April.

The international break itself could be a boost for Garcia, giving him ample time to get back to full fitness, just in time for the Atleti match.
