Although there still are some very important issues in the team left unresolved, FC Barcelona are gradually taking their final shape for next season. Meanwhile, there have also been some notable exits, with the latest of these being the Uruguayan center-back Ronald Araujo, who has joined the Premier League side Liverpool on a season-long loan. Even with his exit, there are more than enough center-back options available for Hansi Flick, but the German coach might still decide to land another center-back from the market.

One of the options available to him will be the youngster Alvaro Cortes, who stands to gain a lot with Araujo’s departure, as he will be one of the four center-backs in the team, along with Pau Cubarsi, Gerard Martin, and Andreas Christensen, while Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde can also play in this position.

The youngster’s priority remains to stay and succeed with Barcelona, and he will get a very good opportunity to do so next season. However, if the Catalans decide to bring in another defender, Mundo Deportivo notes that there will be no shortage of options for Cortes to join, as he already has concrete offers from some Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and other notable European leagues.

The Catalans are expected to make a decision about his future in the upcoming few days, but both Flick and Deco are very satisfied with his growth, and believe he can contribute to the first team from next season.

Himself being a die-hard Barcelona fan, Alvaro Cortes also wants to stay at the Catalan club, and hopefully, he can turn out to be as successful as Pau Cubarsi with the first team.
