Max Eberl has once again commented on a current personnel issue at FC Bayern, but avoided making any concrete statements on the future of a Munich attacker.

When asked about the possibility of Nicolas Jackson remaining at the club beyond the summer, the sporting director told BILD: „There’s no indication yet.“ It remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old will continue to wear the Bayern shirt next season.

It was reported two weeks ago that those responsible are basically satisfied with Jackson’s development, but according to information from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Munich will only decide on the next steps after the end of the current season.

Chelsea remain firm – transfer fee the sticking point

A return to Chelsea FC is out of the question, as the striker will definitely leave the Premier League club in the summer. Whether the path leads permanently to Munich depends above all on the financial framework conditions. As The Athletic reports, Chelsea have so far shown no willingness to make concessions on the transfer fee. For Bayern, an expensive package would be difficult to justify, especially as Jackson is only considered a supplementary player in the current squad.

The Senegalese moved to FC Bayern on loan on deadline day. The agreement includes a purchase obligation of €65 million, but this only applies if Jackson starts at least 40 competitive matches. He will not reach this threshold, which now leaves the club with the option of making a free decision.

Good odds, but not always convincing

With six scoring points in 18 appearances, Jackson has put up decent numbers. He has been directly involved in a goal every 90 minutes – a very strong figure. However, he has failed to score in his last three appearances and did not appear at all in the DFB Cup against Union Berlin. He has so far been denied a permanent place in the starting eleven, partly because his impact as a substitute is too variable.

Coach Vincent Kompany has repeatedly emphasized that he values the 24-year-old’s profile, but has also made it clear that a signing of this magnitude is only an option if there are clear sporting prospects. Internally, Jackson continues to be seen as a backup behind Harry Kane – a role that can hardly be reconciled with a high transfer fee.

Whether or not a permanent transfer will take place depends largely on Chelsea FC’s willingness to negotiate, although there is little to suggest that they will make concessions so far.
