Noah Okafor made his comeback for Switzerland with a late outing in a 1-1 draw against Australia, sharpening up before the 2026 World Cup.

As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Leeds United forward had ended the club season in fine form before a calf injury stalled him.

The 26-year-old was selected in Murat Yakin’s World Cup squad, despite missing last Sunday’s penultimate warm-up against Jordan. Before that match, Yakin said he was not concerned about the player’s long-term availability. Six days later, he was on the bench for Saturday’s final warm-up and came on with 11 minutes left, his first action in just over five weeks.

Nottingham Forest’s Dan Ndoye struck in the 14th minute to put Switzerland ahead, before Tete Yengi levelled for Australia four minutes before the hour.

At club level, Okafor had been ruled out of Leeds’ last three fixtures by the calf issue. He now heads to the World Cup as one of four Leeds players involved, alongside Brenden Aaronson for USA, Gabi Gudmundsson for Sweden and Ao Tanaka for Japan.

Switzerland begin their Group B campaign next Saturday evening against Qatar.
