New Eintracht Frankfurt signing Noël Aséko spoke on his reasons for joining Eintracht Frankfurt at his introductory press conference on Monday afternoon. Aséko went into great depth as to why he opted to choose Eintracht Frankfurt over the club that went to great lengths to exercise a buyback option on him, the 20-year-old was surprisingly candid.
Touted as a potential replacement to Leon Goretzka, Nséko revealed that Bayern weren’t prepared to offer him that chance just yet. The self-proclaimed “Streetballer from Neuköln” implicitly noted that the SGE accorded him better prospects.
“[They laid out] The total package,” Aséko said. “I had great talks with the club, and a great discussion with the head coach [Adi Hütter]. Then, I exchanged some texts with [Germany U21 teammate] Nnamdi [Collins]. I think that everything and everyone convinced me.
“The clear plan that they had to further my development [also helped],” Aséko continued. “At my age, it’s very important for me to take the next step. Here, I have a chance at a brighter future.“
“Why Eintracht over Bayern?” Aséko rhetorically asked in response to a subsequent question about his choice from the Frankfurter Rundschau. “I remained in very close contact with the coach [Vincent Kompany] and the [club] board.
“The coach [Kompany] had a very frank conversation with me, and I was honest in return,” Aséko continued. “I had a conversation with him [Kompany]. That’s what led to the Eintracht transfer.“
