Nordi Mukiele has addressed Sunderland supporters on Instagram after a half-time flashpoint during the 5-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Sunderland were 4-0 down at the break when, amid a tense atmosphere, Mukiele appeared to respond to remarks from the stands. The player said in a post that it was a difficult night, and that the priority was to stand up and go again with a different mindset.

He also urged supporters to keep believing with four to go.

Despite boos at the interval, large sections of the Stadium of Light backed the team after the restart.

Forest added a fifth before full time, sealing a heavy defeat. Mukiele ended his message by saying he would see supporters next week.
