Nordi Mukiele hails Granit Xhaka after Sunderland Player of the Season award

Nordi Mukiele hailed Granit Xhaka after the Sunderland captain was named the club’s men’s player of the season at the End of Season Awards.
According to Sunderland Echo, the ceremony took place at the Beacon of Light on Wednesday evening, bringing together players, staff, partners and supporters.
Xhaka earned the prize after an outstanding first campaign on Wearside, anchoring Régis Le Bris’ side on their Premier League return and helping secure top-flight status. The award was sponsored by Hummel.
Mukiele shared a photo of Xhaka with the trophy on Instagram, adding a respectful message and a red heart. Xhaka posted images from the night, saying success is better when shared with the team, plus red and white hearts and his usual GX34 hashtag.
Brian Brobbey’s dramatic derby winner at Newcastle United was voted the LiveScore Moment That Mattered. Chris Rigg’s first Premier League goal against Aston Villa won Goal of the Season. Robin Roefs was named Young Player of the Season, and Dan Ballard took the Foundation of Light Community Player award.
There was recognition for the women’s team, with Emily Scarr named Women’s Player of the Season. Katy Watson won Women’s Young Player, and Katie Kitching claimed Women’s Goal of the Season.
In the academy, Finn Geragusian was Under-21 Player of the Season, Finlay Holcroft won Under-18 Player, and Charlie Scorer collected Junior Player. Club historian Rob Mason received the Lifetime Achievement award for his work preserving Sunderland’s history.
