Norway 3-2 Senegal, Haaland and Sarr ruthless in player ratings | OneFootball

Norway edged Senegal 3-2 on Monday in the World Cup group stage, Erling Haaland decisive and Ismaïla Sarr almost forcing a late leveller.

As reported by L'Équipe, the match laid bare clear standouts and costly struggles.

In the third minute Kristoffer Ajer’s thumping header was tipped away by Édouard Mendy. Haaland’s press troubled the keeper on 11, and Martin Ødegaard missed big on 14 as Alexander Sorloth slipped in Marcus Holmgren Pedersen.

Ødegaard and Haaland combined neatly at 37 and 40. Ødegaard then threaded the through ball for the opener on 43, Sorloth miscued a chip moments later, and Haaland struck the post at 45+4.

Haaland struck twice on 48 and 58, the first from Ødegaard’s pass, and Mendy went off injured on 63, replaced by Diaw.

Sarr led Senegal’s response with a combative brace and he almost equalised with a 90+9 header from a corner.

Kalidou Koulibaly struggled on Norway’s goals, his return from injury looking premature before he was replaced by Sarr on 72. Mendy, after two early saves, erred on the first goal and almost gifted another by delaying a clearance. Nicolas Jackson drifted on the margins, and Sorloth failed to register a shot or a touch in the box.
