Norway’s prime minister Jonas Gahr Store is a Leeds United supporter, adding to the club’s Norwegian ties before tonight’s World Cup quarter-final. Norway face Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions in Miami at 10pm, with a semi-final place on the line.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Erling Haaland’s fondness for Leeds is long established, and the Whites retain a sizeable following across Norway and wider Scandinavia, rooted in Don Revie’s glory years.

Store’s backing surfaced publicly during a meeting with former prime minister Keir Starmer last year, when the pair discussed deepening UK-Norway cooperation and work with allies on national and economic security.

In that exchange, Store welcomed British troops training in Norway during winter and noted that Starmer had just congratulated him, adding that Leeds were back in the Premier League after one year.

Starmer responded by congratulating Leeds again on promotion. Store has also shared his support on Instagram, including a photo of himself standing before five Leeds United flags on a house wall in Norway.
