Ryan Giles is reportedly of interest to the Canaries despite Hull's Premier League promotion
After a massive resurgence in the latter months of the 2025/26 Championship season, many will be intrigued to see how Norwich City fare after a first pre-season under the management of Philippe Clement.
The Canaries were languishing in the bottom three of the second tier at the time of the Belgian's appointment last November, as he replaced Liam Manning in the dugout after the Norwich-born man could, unfortunately, not turn the tide himself at Carrow Road.
Norwich have now spent four seasons outside of the Premier League, which is the longest they have gone without a period of top-flight football as a club since the late 2000s and early 2010s, often being stereotyped as a 'yo-yo' side between the top two divisions of the English pyramid as a result.
However, the former Club Brugge, AS Monaco and Rangers head coach has certainly brought a sense of belief and hype back to the Norfolk outfit, who were able to finish in the Championship's top-half by following the lead of eventually controversial play-off finishers, Southampton, by embarking on a huge wave of momentum under a newly-appointed figure from mid-season onwards.
A ninth-place finish, just eight points behind eventual play-off winners, Hull City, was also recorded amid the sale of Championship goalscoring supremo, Josh Sargent, to MLS side Toronto FC, and a major injury crisis throughout Clement's squad.
This included left-back, where only Ben Chrisene is currently seen as a natural option despite an array of versatile figures in the Norwich rearguard.
As such, City have been linked with a move for Hull's Ryan Giles amid an unnerving financial situation at the MKM Stadium despite promotion, but a new update has served a major blow to the current Championship side.

Indeed, Giles has had a mixed two-and-a-half year spell at the MKM Stadium after initially joining on loan from Luton Town in February 2024, when the Tigers were still under the management of Liam Rosenior.
Despite the fact Rosenior was sacked and replaced by Tim Walter, Giles was acquired on a permanent basis for £4m, before struggling for form and minutes under the German and his successor, Ruben Selles, in the latter months of 2024.
The Telford-born full-back then returned to former loan club, Middlesbrough, under Michael Carrick for a second time, but was unable to have the desired impact at the Riverside Stadium, meaning he returned to Hull in rather uncertain circumstances 12 months ago.
However, the Wolves academy graduate has been rejuvenated under Sergej Jakirovic, as he played 37 times in all competitions and posted eight assists, with the majority of those provided for City's top scorer, Oli McBurnie.
It was claimed by Pete O'Rourke on Saturday that Norwich were looking into a move for the 26-year-old, with it being well-documented that Hull need to generate £6m worth of funds before June 30th to avoid a potential points deduction next season due to an overspend against the EFL's PSR regulations as a result of promotion bonuses.
However, while the futures of some players are uncertain as a result, Hull Live state that Giles' isn't, as he intends on remaining in HU3 ahead of the new season, and that has since been reflected by a rather timely post on his Instagram story.

There is no doubting that Giles would be a remarkable coup for Norwich in the Championship, especially with many forecasting a strong season for the Canaries.
However, the full-back's current stance on matters is also unsurprising, having only made 11 previous appearances in the Premier League for Luton despite racking up just short of 200 in the Championship for an array of clubs on permanent or loan deals.
It is, though, clear to see Clement's intentions when it comes to reshaping a defence which shipped 56 goals in 46 games last term, with Brazilian defender, Bruno Alves, already signed on loan from Cruzeiro, with an option-to-buy in a year's time.
