Norwich City are reportedly interested in signing Hull City's Ryan Giles ahead of a potential move this summer

Norwich City are looking to build upon the success they have found ever since Philippe Clement arrived through the Carrow Road doors, and will be targeting a strong summer window to help lift the Canaries back up to the Championship top six places.

It was a season of two halves for the Canaries in 2025-26.

Liam Manning's reign went about as badly as it possibly could have gone, with the former Bristol City boss winning just three of his 17 games in charge before being dismissed by the beginning of November.

Norwich found themselves in an unfamiliar relegation battle and appointed former Rangers boss Philippe Clement to help steer them away from danger.

Not only did he do just that, but the Canaries, at one stage, looked good for a place in the play-offs, following an incredible turnaround under the Belgian, which included a strong January transfer window, with each of Ali Ahmed, Mohamed Toure, and Sam Field all joining the club and all playing key roles in their success.

Signed alongside them was Manchester United teenager Harry Amass to offer more strength and depth at left-back, but his injury meant Clement had to plug a hole for much of the rest of the campaign.

Now, it looks like Norwich are taking steps to address that area.

In the Norwich squad, Ben Chrisene is recognised as their only natural senior left-back option, with each of Kellen Fisher, Jack Stacey, and Jose Cordoba covering in his absence.

The addition of Amass in January was meant to take some of the pressure regarding that position away, but the 19-year-old's subsequent history meant that the Belgian boss had to deal with yet another injury crisis, something he has become accustomed to since he arrived in Norfolk.

Now, it appears as though the Canaries are looking to address this area once and for all with a move for Hull City's Ryan Giles this summer, as per FootballInsider's Pete O'Rourke.

Giles, 26, came through the academy at Wolverhampton Wanderers and has endured numerous loan spells across the EFL with the likes of Shrewsbury Town, Coventry City, Rotherham United, Cardiff City, Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, and lastly Hull, before his move to the Tigers became permanent for around £4 million in the summer of 2024.

The left-back, known for his capability for crossing the ball, made 35 Championship appearances in the most recent campaign, including the play-offs, recording eight assists as Hull secured an unlikely promotion to the Premier League, beating former club Middlesbrough at Wembley 1-0.

However, the Tigers, despite their influx of Premier League money, may have to sell this summer to avoid any point deduction, and are about £6 million over budget, which they must address by the end of June.

Hull's need to sell could be Norwich's gain, as Clement aims to bring the marauding full-back to Carrow Road this summer to add some much-needed strength, depth, and experience in that area of the pitch.

Clement has already made the addition of Cruzeiro's Brazilian centre-back Bruno Alves this summer, and now looks to make Giles his second arrival, with a push for promotion to the Premier League well within his sights.

Clement appears to be wasting no time in pursuit of incomings this summer at Norwich, in what he hopes will be a much stronger campaign.

The Belgian has done a superb job both on and off the pitch since he arrived at Carrow Road, and doesn't appear to be resting on his laurels just yet amid a move for Giles and the addition of Alves.

Having already proven his nous in the transfer market with the addition of Ahmed and Toure, Norwich supporters have every right to trust in his judgement.

With nearly 200 Championship appearances to his name at 26, Giles would be an excellent option for any second-tier club this summer, as Norwich looks to ensure his next destination is in Norfolk.
