With the highly anticipated and emotional departure of Mohamed Salah officially announced, Liverpool’s front line is currently undergoing a massive, necessary transition. To make matters significantly more stressful for manager Arne Slot, an awful long-term Achilles tendon injury to Hugo Ekitike means the Reds are suddenly incredibly short on reliable firepower.
Enter Randal Kolo Muani. According to a fresh report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Liverpool have firmly identified the 27-year-old French international as a prime candidate to help fill the massive void left by Salah.
However, securing his signature won’t be a walk in the park, as European heavyweights Juventus are also fiercely circling the Paris Saint-Germain forward.
If you’ve been loosely following the Premier League this season, you know Kolo Muani’s situation has been a bit of a rollercoaster.
He is currently navigating a season-long loan with Tottenham Hotspur, a move sanctioned by PSG after a brief but productive stint with Juventus in early 2025.
However, with Spurs surprisingly entangled in a messy relegation battle this season, the forward’s time in North London hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations.
He is widely expected to leave Spurs at the end of the current campaign and return to his parent club, where he will likely be placed straight back on the transfer list.
In 25 Premier League appearances this season, the Frenchman has scored just one goal
Slot has reportedly already approved the player’s profile during critical meetings with the FSG management, highly valuing his tactical versatility to play either as a central striker or out wide.
There is no doubt that the player is talented but by now, they must have seen enough to make a decision.
Kolo Muani has failed at Tottenham and it is an indication of what could be the future of Liverpool make a move for him.
He has struggled with the pace of football in England and the physicality as well.
Signing him as Salah’s replacement hardly makes any sense considering the other options available in the market who are more suited to the playing style, an option like Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig.
