Nottingham Forest will face Fenerbahce in the Europa League play-offs. According to Nottingham Post, the draw paired the Reds with the Istanbul club.
Sean Dyche’s side closed the league phase with a 4-0 victory over Ferencvaros at the City Ground on Thursday. Igor Jesus scored twice, with an own goal and a James McAtee penalty completing the scoring.
The result left Forest 13th in the overall standings and ensured they were seeded for the next stage. It also means the second leg of the play-off will be at the City Ground.
The draw was held at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland. Forest knew they would get Fenerbahce or Panathinaikos, and they were handed the former.
Dyche’s men are set to travel to Istanbul on February 18 or 19. The return will be played a week later on February 25 or 26.
If Forest progress, they would meet either Midtjylland or Real Betis in the last 16. The Europa League final is scheduled in Istanbul in May, so next month could be the first of two trips.
