Nottingham Forest have enquired about Gremio teenager Gabriel Mec and are monitoring his situation closely as the summer window approaches, according to Sport Witness.
The 17-year-old can operate on the left or as an attacking midfielder and has only recently begun to feature regularly at senior level.
Gremio appear set to sell as they are said to be seeking funds to ease financial pressures, but Forest would face firm competition. Brentford are said to be firmly in the picture ahead of his 18th birthday next month.
Gremio previously accepted a bid worth around €15 million (£13m) from Shakhtar Donetsk, though the transfer fell through when the player chose to prioritise his development in Brazil.
Chelsea are said to have scouted him, while Liverpool have been keeping tabs and are understood to have likened his pace and directness to Vinicius Junior.
His representatives have also travelled to Europe for talks, meeting Benfica and Sporting Lisbon. Porto are in the frame too, and Forest face them in the Europa League quarter-finals after the international break.
With interest growing, Gremio are eyeing a major sale, and a summer agreement is said to be expected. The club now view €15 million as a starting point for negotiations.
Whatever division Forest are in next season, it is set to be a significant summer at the City Ground under Vitor Pereira, with incomings and outgoings expected.
