Nottingham Forest have lodged a formal complaint with PGMOL over officiating in Saturday’s defeat to Manchester City.
According to NY Times, the grievance focuses on two moments. Forest felt Ruben Dias avoided a second yellow for a foul on Igor Jesus early in the second half, and that Nico O’Reilly fouled Morgan Gibbs-White before Rayan Cherki’s 83rd minute winner.
Forest have requested the match officials’ audio from the game, and manager Sean Dyche is expected to speak directly with referees’ chief Howard Webb.
Dyche said he would follow up in due course and that his view had not changed. He spoke before the visit of Everton on Tuesday, and hoped for better going forward.
He said decisions can affect the outcome, calling the unissued second yellow the biggest one and a simple decision. He added that City are a fine side, and that 10 men would not have guaranteed anything but would have offered a better chance.
There is prior context with referee Rob Jones. In December 2023, during Nuno Espirito Santo’s first match in charge, Willy Boly received a controversial second yellow when he appeared to have been fouled.
Nuno later served a touchline ban in October 2024 after Jones sent him to the stands at Brighton following protests over a red card shown to Gibbs-White.
PGMOL declined to comment on the complaint, though it remains keen to engage with clubs privately.
