Nottingham Forest were held 0-0 by Fulham at the City Ground, a result that nudged them above West Ham into 17th on goal difference yet left frustrations intact.
They began the day in the bottom three after West Ham’s draw with Manchester City the night before. According to Nottingham Post, scarves were left on every seat to help raise the noise before a rousing Mull of Kintyre.
Forest had plenty of the ball but little edge. Elliot Anderson dragged wide after a 10th-minute burst. Matz Sels saved superbly from Calvin Bassey’s header at a free-kick, Morgan Gibbs-White’s effort was held by Bernd Leno and Nicolas Dominguez was denied shortly before the break from Neco Williams’ tee-up.
After the interval a penalty award was overturned by VAR because Dan Ndoye had strayed offside before being felled. Energy levels lifted, Ola Aina rattled the bar, then just past the hour Ndoye’s finish was ruled out for an extremely tight offside on review and Taiwo Awoniyi fired wide late on.
Ratings: Matz Sels 7, Ola Aina 6.5, Nikola Milenkovic 7, Murillo 7, Neco Williams 6.5, Ibrahim Sangare 6.5, Elliot Anderson 6.5, Callum Hudson-Odoi 5, Morgan Gibbs-White 6.5, Nicolas Dominguez 6, Igor Jesus 4. Subs, Omari Hutchinson 6.5, Dan Ndoye 6.5, Taiwo Awoniyi 7, Ryan Yates 6, James McAtee 6. Subs not used, Gunn, Morato, Netz, Bakwa.
