Nottingham Forest sign Xaver Schlager on free after RB Leipzig exit | OneFootball

Xaver Schlager has completed his move to Nottingham Forest, reuniting with head coach Oliver Glasner.

The midfielder joins as a free agent after his RB Leipzig contract expired. The Athletic reported Forest were set to offer a two-year deal with an option for an additional year.

Schlager and Glasner previously worked together at Wolfsburg, reaching the Europa League last 16, then qualifying for the Champions League with a fourth-placed Bundesliga finish.

He had interest from several European clubs, including Juventus, and Leipzig had attempted to agree a new contract.

For the recently appointed Forest head coach, having a player already attuned to his mentality and demands will be a significant boost at the City Ground.
