Nottingham Forest are understood to have approached departing Brest sporting director Gregory Lorenzi about a move to the City Ground. However, the 42-year-old is set to head elsewhere.

Foot Mercato reports Lorenzi has reached an agreement to join Nice at the end of the season.

He is said to have decided to end a decade as Brest's sporting director, with budget constraints thought to have taken a toll. He was also unhappy with head coach Eric Roy's public criticism of last summer's transfers.

Interest was said to come from Crystal Palace, Nice, Marseille and Saint-Etienne, with Forest among the clubs to make contact.

A reshuffle is expected at Forest this summer, regardless of whether they stay up. The departure of global head of football Edu is on the cards, barely 12 months after he arrived.

His remit covered Evangelos Marinakis' clubs, including Olympiacos and Rio Ave. A turbulent campaign brought growing scrutiny.

Soon after Edu arrived there was a falling-out with Nuno Espirito Santo that led to the Portuguese's dismissal. Vitor Pereira is now the fourth manager of the season after the tenures of Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche did not work out.

Pereira has taken Forest into the Europa League semi-finals. In the Premier League they are five points above the drop with four games remaining.

Head of football development Craig Mulholland is set to leave at season's end to become chief football office at the Scottish Football Association.
