According to Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest have lodged a €28m (£23.8m) offer with Arsenal for Fabio Vieira.

Hamburg want him back permanently, having initially deemed their €22m option too expensive, and are now exploring ways to strike a deal. Premier League interest is said to have surprised them and weakened their prospects of re-signing the midfielder.

Vieira, 26, spent last season on loan at Bundesliga side Hamburg SV, helping them finish 13th, their best since 2016. He scored seven and supplied six in 31 appearances.

Earlier this summer it was suggested Arsenal might accept around €10m-€15m. Vieira has one year left on his contract after a £30m move in 2022 and has played 49 times for the Gunners, with 17 starts.

For Hamburg he featured centrally and off the right, and can operate as a No 10, although he looked most effective slightly deeper. During a 2024/25 loan at Porto, he scored five and assisted six, mainly from the right.

Forest are targeting midfield options as speculation over Elliot Anderson persists, with Manchester City and Manchester United both linked. City’s second offer, worth about £120m, was rejected this week.

That proposal was said to comprise an initial £106m plus add-ons, a figure greater than the £105m Arsenal paid West Ham for Declan Rice three years ago.
