Nottingham Forest plan to hand Vitor Pereira a new long-term contract after securing Premier League survival. The Athletic reports that the hierarchy and players are happy with the head coach and talks on fresh terms are the priority.

Speculation over another change in the dugout has been dismissed in that report. Pereira has overseen 18 matches in all competitions, including three straight league wins in an eight-match unbeaten run that ensured safety.

The 2025/26 campaign could have yielded more, but Forest were knocked out of the Europa League by Aston Villa at the semi-final stage after a 4-0 second-leg defeat at Villa Park.

They responded with a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United last Sunday, Elliot Anderson scoring the equaliser. Forest want to keep their leading players, though Manchester City and Manchester United are monitoring the 23-year-old.

Pereira was non-committal on Anderson’s future, saying he did not have the answer and praising the midfielder’s talent, character and relentless work-rate. He also noted staff felt Anderson was on fire in the warm-up.

Anderson’s next focus is the World Cup with England in the United States, with club-mate Morgan Gibbs-White hopeful of joining him. Gibbs-White has missed the last two matches after a facial injury left a significant scar, but he has trained in a protective mask and will be assessed before the trip to Manchester United this weekend.
