Tottenham Hotspur travel to the City Ground on Sunday afternoon, aiming to secure three consecutive wins in all competitions for the first time under Thomas Frank.
They face a Nottingham Forest side looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat. Spurs arrive in the East Midlands with renewed confidence after back-to-back victories over Brentford and Slavia Prague. These results have lifted the gloom of a disastrous November.
They face a Forest team that sits 17th in the table, just two points above the drop zone. The hosts are reeling from a 3-0 humbling by Everton last weekend. However, the City Ground has been a difficult venue for Spurs recently. After losing six consecutive Premier League games against Tottenham between 1998 and 2024, Forest did the league double over them last season.
Sean Dyche is sweating on the fitness of first-choice goalkeeper Matz Sels. The Belgian missed the Europa League win over Utrecht with a groin issue and is considered a doubt. If he misses out, Carlos Miguel could deputise. The hosts have been dealt a blow with captain Ryan Yates ruled out for the foreseeable future with a thigh injury. He joins Ola Aina, Chris Wood, and Angus Gunn on the sidelines. However, Taiwo Awoniyi may return to the squad.
Thomas Frank expects Brennan Johnson to be available to face his former club. The forward missed the midweek Champions League win over Slavia Prague but has returned to training. However, Spurs remain without a host of key players. Dominic Solanke, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Destiny Udogie are all sidelined. Yves Bissouma is also unavailable due to discipline and injury issues.
Forest have struggled for consistency in front of goal, failing to score in eight different Premier League games this season. This record is bettered only by Wolves. However, they are a different beast when they do find the net. Forest are unbeaten in their last 11 league games in which they have scored. Midfield creativity will be key for the hosts, particularly through Elliot Anderson.
Spurs have been clinical on the road, winning four away games and collecting 14 points. Remarkably, they are the only side to have scored in all of their away games this season. Their attack has been ruthless, boasting the largest overperformance between goals scored and expected goals in the division. Richarlison has been pivotal to this output, leading the team with eight goal involvements this season.
Nottingham Forest predicted XI: Sels; Savona, Milenković, Murillo, Williams; Sangaré, Anderson; Hutchinson, Gibbs-White, Ndoye; Jesus
Tottenham Hotspur predicted XI: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Bentancur, Gray; Kudus, Simons, Kolo Muani; Richarlison
The match will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event. Coverage starts at 1:00 pm GMT.
