Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal with Manchester City for Elliot Anderson, and focus now turns to replacing the midfielder bound for the Etihad Stadium.
According to Nottingham Post, City will pay an up-front £116 million, a major return on the net £15m Forest spent two years ago.
The England international has been pivotal. Opta says he won possession 306 times in 2025/26, 94 more than anyone in Europe’s top five leagues, with Wolves’ Andre on 212. He also topped the Premier League for duels, 297, and touches, 3,300.
Forest are weighing midfield options as Vitor Pereira refines his squad.
Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall is said to want a move, which has alerted Forest. Bayern Munich, Aston Villa and Chelsea are credited with interest. With five years left on his deal, a £45-50m price has been reported.
Inter’s Davide Frattesi, pursued in January, could move this summer, though the destination is unclear. Valued at £26m, he is on Juventus’ radar, and reports in Italy say he would prefer to stay there and dreams of reuniting with boss Luciano Spalletti.
Celtic’s Arne Engels drew three rejected winter bids, including a package up to £25m. He remains on the shortlist, with Crystal Palace, Spurs, Fulham, Roma and Atletico Madrid keen. Under contract to 2028, Celtic are said to want more than £21.5m.
The Telegraph reports Forest are interested in Trabzonspor’s Christ Inao Oulai, 20, who is with Ivory Coast at the World Cup alongside Ibrahim Sangare. Sunderland, Fulham and Brentford have also been linked. He joined the club in Türkiye from Bastia 12 months ago.
