Nottingham Forest have expressed interest in Lucas Bergvall as they plan for a possible future without Elliot Anderson, who has bids from Manchester City and attention from Manchester United.
The Athletic reports that Bergvall would like to leave Tottenham this summer to seek a new challenge, a stance that has drawn suitors in England and abroad.
Aston Villa previously expressed interest and remain admirers, but they are not targeting a midfielder unless they sell first.
Villa’s midfield group includes Amadou Onana, Boubacar Kamara, John McGinn, Ross Barkley and Youri Tielemans, who is entering the final two years of his deal. Villa hope to renew Tielemans, though the 29-year-old has interest from elsewhere.
Bergvall is contracted to Spurs until 2031.
He is at the World Cup with Sweden and has made two substitute outings, assisting in their opening 5-1 win over Tunisia.
Tottenham saw off winter interest from Villa and Chelsea after both clubs made direct contact, then made clear he was not available.
Since head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival in March, Bergvall started once against Sunderland and logged 54 minutes as a substitute thereafter.
This summer Tottenham have opened talks with Newcastle United over Sandro Tonali and are also pursuing West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes.
Bergvall joined from Djurgarden in 2024, has made 78 appearances, was Spurs’ player of the year in his first season and helped win the 2025 Europa League, the club’s first trophy in 17 years.
