Oliver Glasner began at Nottingham Forest with a 2-0 win at Notts County, Igor Jesus and Arnaud Kalimuendo scoring. According to Nottingham Post, the Meadow Lane friendly capped his first week after the squad returned on Monday.

Forest started brightly and saw plenty of the ball. Jesus twice threatened inside the opening 20 minutes, drawing a save after Omari Hutchinson’s cut-back then heading narrowly wide from the resulting corner.

On 26 minutes the Brazilian struck, racing on to a fine Morgan Gibbs-White pass and sliding his finish past James Belshaw. Hutchinson had a shot charged down and Neco Williams headed off target, while Matz Sels endured a relatively quiet first half.

Glasner sent out an entirely new XI after the break and standards did not dip. Kalimuendo made it 2-0 with a close-range header from Eric da Silva Moreira’s inviting cross.

Taiwo Awoniyi powered through but was denied by a strong save and academy arrival Grady McDonnell also went close. The hosts finished with intent yet Forest saw it out comfortably.

Hutchinson was lively on the right and fit-again Ola Aina added energy, with James McAtee sharp in a deeper role. Gibbs-White earned warm backing from the away end and looked fired up at the start of summer.

Kalimuendo, wanted permanently by Eintracht Frankfurt after his loan spell, strengthened his case. Some fans have fretted over Gibbs-White’s agent change and his fiancée’s posts, but Forest want to keep key players after Elliot Anderson’s move to Manchester City.
