Nuno Tavares could leave Lazio this summer if the right opening emerges, with competition at left-back and fitness concerns mounting.

According to The Laziali, he risks starting the campaign on the bench, with Gennaro Gattuso likely to hand new signing Alfonso Pedraza an immediate role after his free move from Villarreal. The report also cites strained relations with the hierarchy and recurring physical issues.

Tavares has already sustained his first knock of the season and missed the first two friendlies against Lazio U20 and Flaminia.

The Portuguese joined in summer 2024 and flew out of the blocks, delivering eight assists in as many Serie A games before injuries slowed him.

He then lost his place after a run of errors, with Maurizio Sarri preferring the more disciplined Luca Pellegrini, though Tavares later reclaimed a starting berth.

Earlier in the window he was linked to Besiktas, Porto and Fiorentina, but Besiktas switched targets and there has been no concrete movement from the other two.

Lazio currently have three first-team left-backs and must move on either Tavares or Pellegrini. A sale of Tavares would hand Arsenal a 35% sell-on return.
