Nuno, the former Wolves title-winning manager, was expected to leave after West Ham’s relegation, but his future remains unresolved.

Despite a 3-0 win over Leeds, the Hammers dropped into the Championship as Tottenham secured their survival with a 1-0 victory over Everton. The Guardian reports that some within the hierarchy want Nuno to remain and that a decision is expected in the next couple of days.

He had looked set to be axed once relegation was confirmed, amid talk of meetings on Monday. For Nuno, who started the season with Nottingham Forest having led them into Europe, it has been a whirlwind campaign that ended in relegation and speculation over his future.

His three-year contract is believed to include a clause allowing West Ham to sack him without paying compensation.

If he does leave, West Ham would be searching for a fifth manager in two years. Former Wolves boss Gary O’Neil, who led Strasbourg into the last four of the Europa Conference League, is among those linked, alongside ex-West Ham midfielder Scott Parker.
