Antonio Nusa remains a genuine option for Roma, but the numbers help explain why the deal has been slow to move.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, RB Leipzig value the Norwegian winger at €55m, more than the €50m that would have secured Crysencio Summerville, before his move to Saudi Arabia, despite his managing just four Bundesliga goals last season.

That is the same tally Lorenzo Pellegrini, now a free agent, posted in Serie A. Improving those returns is usually Gian Piero Gasperini’s speciality, this is the coach who turned the previously wasteful Lookman into a 15-goal machine at Atalanta, yet the fluctuating figures being quoted underline the club’s difficulties in pushing deals over the line.

Roma need three attacking additions: two wingers and a deputy for Donyell Malen. Three targets have slipped away, Tzolis’s move to Arsenal among them, but three remain on the table.

Nusa is Plan A, a player Erling Haaland dovetails with superbly for Norway, while Cologne’s El Mala is the Plan B for the final third. Leipzig’s interest in El Mala could yet prove the key that frees Nusa: a triangle worth watching.

Rashford idea surfaces within Roma’s Koné talks with Man Utd

Gasperini is also keen on Fenerbahçe’s Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Benfica’s Andreas Schjelderup, while Marcus Rashford was reportedly offered on Friday as part of ongoing dialogue with Manchester United over Manu Koné.

The plan for the trequarti is to blend one established name with one promising youngster at a more modest fee, with PSG’s 18-year-old Mbaye and Feyenoord’s Sauer both long tracked by sporting director D’Amico. Tresoldi would return to the reckoning only should the pursuit of Santiago Castro fail.

With nearly two months of stalemate behind them and 37 days of the window left, Roma have the time and the means. Their executives will simply need to hold their nerve.
