NYCFC stun Columbus at the death in massive home win | OneFootball

NYCFC picked up a potentially vital win in the Eastern Conference playoff race Wednesday evening, stunning the Columbus Crew in the fourth minute of stoppage time to jump into the top-five in the conference.

Heading into the dying minutes level at two, the honors looked set to be shared between the two Eastern Conference foes.

But it was the hosts who needed the points the most, and collected them in dramatic fashion thanks to a 94th minute Julián Fernández banger.

While the scenes in the Bronx were magnificent, the most important narrative played out in the conference standings.

With the win, NYCFC leap-frogged Columbus to move into 5th place, sending the Crew down into 7th for now.

Points are certainly at premium with just one month remaining in regular season play.
