NYCFC vs FC Cincinnati preview: Wishing for another road win | OneFootball

New York City FC will try to do something the team has not done in years.  When they play this weekend, the Boys in Blue will be on the road against FC Cincinnati and will aim to sweep the regular season meetings with the Ohio side.  They won the home fixture and have done well against some of the top Major League Soccer teams this year.

However, Cincinnati is still in first place and a tough side to beat, especially at TQL Stadium.  Moreover, the team has become even better after the summer transfer window closed.  In fact, they recently reacquired their former player Brenner on loan.  It is doubtful he will be available, but there is no question that the Orange and Blue will be a little more difficult compared to their last meeting.

At least NYCFC knows they can have success on the road.  In their most recent MLS road trip, the Pigeons won in Orlando and Dallas.  It was not pretty, but quite a few of the positive results have been a little ugly.

It will not be too warm, for the temperature will be around 78 degrees.  There will be no rain, but it will be mostly cloudy and a little humid.

Injury report

Nico Cavallo (leg), Malachi Jones (leg), and Keaton Parks (leg) will miss the Cincinnati match.  However, Thiago Martins is available, meaning his recovery from his surgery went well and was swift.

Players to watch

NYCFC fans should pay attention to Maxi Moralez.  The veteran continues to play at a high level and will be vital to the midfield to make the Pigeons competitive against the Ohio team.  His production level with goals and assists has declined, but his passes still allow for chances to be taken.

One should also watch Evander.  The Cincinnati midfielder has 16 goals and eight assists in MLS this season and is arguably one of the best midfielders in the league.  He is extremely threatening and will make life difficult for the visitors.

It would be great for the Pigeons to win away from home again.  However, wishing for such things does not match reality.  Instead, it is predicted that NYCFC will lose 2-0.  The Orange and Blue will be too much for the Boys in Blue, and their defense will be rock solid to ensure that the Bronx team does not score.
