USL Dunkerque have officially announced the signing of Steven Nzonzi (37). Having been a free agent since leaving Stoke City in early July, the midfielder is set to return to Ligue 2, where he previously played for Amiens SC during the 2008-09 season.

Having enjoyed a 2025-26 campaign in which he made 31 appearances (including 17 starts and one goal) for the Potters, the 2018 World Cup winner is set to provide a wealth of experience to a squad with an average age of 24.

For Nzonzi, who is set to join the 11th professional club of his career, moving to Dunkerque also offers the chance to reconnect with his French roots; he hails from Colombes, in the Paris region, and previously played for Stade Rennais FC between 2020 and 2021.

With the addition of the French international, who has 20 caps to his name, USLD are hoping to finally get closer to a potential promotion to Ligue 1, having notably finished fourth in the league two years ago.
