Official: Barcelona confirm venue for Getafe clash as wait for Camp Nou return continues | OneFootball

As expected, FC Barcelona have officially confirmed that their next home game of La Liga, against Getafe, will take place at Estadi Johan Cruyff.

“FC Barcelona announces that the La Liga Matchday 5 match against Getafe, on Sunday, September 21, at 9:00 p.m., will be played at Estadi Johan Cruyff,” the statement read.

Having already hosted Valencia at their reserve-team stadium, Barcelona will once again play at the same venue, even as they wait to obtain the necessary permits to reopen the Spotify Camp Nou.

“The Club continues to work intensively to obtain the necessary administrative permits for the opening of Spotify Camp Nou in the near future,” the statement further noted.

“FC Barcelona thanks its members and fans for their understanding and support during such a complex and exciting process as the return to the new Spotify Camp Nou.”

For now, the hope is for Camp Nou to be ready to host Real Sociedad on 28 September in La Liga, with the club securing the Final Works Certificate already and now waiting on obtaining the First Occupancy Licence from the Barcelona City Council.

Even if Barcelona reopen Camp Nou later this month, it is unlikely that they will be able to host their first UEFA Champions League home game of the season, against PSG, at the stadium, with Montjuic being tipped as the likely venue.
