La Liga giants Barcelona will not be able to celebrate one of their stars winning this year’s Ballon d’Or trophy.
This comes after the prize instead went to a former Blaugrana star.
The Ballon d’Or ceremony is currently in its dying stages in the French capital of Paris.
After a long night of glitz and glamour, the announcement which fans across the globe were patiently awaiting was finally forthcoming.
This came in the form of the 2025 ‘Golden Ball’ winner.
The two favourites for the prize had long been Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, and Ousmane Dembélé of Paris Saint-Germain.
Across the day to date, a number of reports had even begun to surface, adamant that it was the former who was set to be crowned world football’s standout player.
In the end, however, it was Dembélé who emerged triumphant.
The Frenchman pipped Lamine to top spot in the voting, followed by Vitinha, Mohamed Salah, and Raphinha.
