FC Barcelona square off against Athletic Club later tonight at San Mames, hoping to stretch their lead at the top of the La Liga table to four points.

Ahead of their trip to Bilbao, Barça manager Hansi Flick has announced the squad list of players who will be available at his disposal for selection to face Ernesto Valverde’s men.

Eric Garcia returns to the squad after missing the cup tie against Atletico Madrid earlier in the week due to suspension.

Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski has received medical clearance and is back in the squad after having missed the previous match due to an eye socket injury. He will, however, likely play with a protective face mask.

Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde miss out through injuries they suffered against Atletico Madrid, while Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, and Andreas Christensen are also absent.

With the fresh absences in defence, Flick has called up two young talents from the reserve team in Xavi Espart and Alvaro Cortes to ensure depth in the backline. Young midfielder Tommy Marques also gets called up for the trip.

It will be interesting to see if any of them get any minutes tonight, with Flick likely to do some rotation, keeping an eye on next week’s UEFA Champions League clash against Newcastle United.
