A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Monday put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.

The player in question? Marc Bernal.

Youngster Bernal is for his part of course fresh off marking his long-awaited return to the pitch.

After a full 12 months on the sidelines with an ACL tear, the 18-year-old has spent recent weeks reestablishing himself in the squad of Barca boss Hansi Flick.

Bernal is considered by all behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital as a long-term Blaugrana star in the making, boasting the necessary traits to act as a midfield mainstay for years to come.

And as alluded to above, early this week, such potential has been aptly recognised by those in the boardroom at the Camp Nou.

As confirmed by way of a series of posts across Barcelona’s social media platforms, Bernal has officially signed a new contract, through the summer of 2029:
