Official: Barcelona starting lineup against Real Sociedad – debut for teenage prodigy | OneFootball

FC Barcelona will look to claim pole position in the La Liga title race when they take on Real Sociedad in a little over an hour at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

With Real Madrid losing on Saturday, Barça have an excellent opportunity to overtake them and go top of the table with a victory.

Ahead of kickoff, manager Hansi Flick has announced the starting lineup that will be taking the field to face the Basque club.

The biggest news is that teenage prodigy Pedro Fernandez Dro makes his official first-team debut for Barcelona, starting in the attacking midfield role.

The 17-year-old gem was a standout in the pre-season and had been in the squad for the first three games of the season before a minor injury sidelined him. Back now, he starts for the first time in a La Liga game.

Meanwhile, fellow youngster Roony Bardghji starts on the right flank, in the absence of Raphinha, with Lamine Yamal on the bench after returning from injury.

Marcus Rashford and Robert Lewandowski complete the attacking unit for Barcelona, while Pedri and Frenkie de Jong form the double pivot in midfield.

As for the defensive line, there is a start for Andreas Christensen, who partners Ronald Araujo at the centre, while Jules Kounde and Gerard Martin take the full-back positions.

With Joan Garcia ruled out, Wojciech Szczesny makes his first appearance of the season between the sticks.
