Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara (25) has penned a contract extension with the Premier League side, the Villains have announced. The former Marseille midfielder had two years left on his existing terms. Now the France international is tied to Villa Park over a long-term contract set to expire in 2030. Foot Mercato previously reported back in April that Aston Villa were ready to secure Kamara’s long-term future with an “historic” contract to fend off competition from the Villains’ Premier League rivals.
The 5-time France international has logged 97 appearances in three seasons with Aston Villa. Last season was his most productive yet with 42 games played for Aston Villa as Unai Emery’s side narrowly missed qualifying for the Champions League following a controversial 2-0 loss at Manchester United on the final day of the Premier League campaign.
Aston Villa were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-final stage against eventual title winners PSG. Next season, Villa will compete in the Europa League, a competition that Unai Emery has already won four times, with Sevilla FC (2014, 2015, 2016) and Villarreal (2021).
