Karlsruher SC have announced that head coach Christian Eichner has extended his contract at the club, alongside his backroom staff until 2027.
Eichner has been in charge at the Wildparkstadion since 2020 and has turned the side from languishing in the middle of the pack in the 2.Bundesliga to now fighting for promotion back to the Bundesliga.
On staying at Karlsruhe, Eichner said:
“From the beginning, it was our wish as a coaching team to continue the path we have taken with this team at KSC with maximum passion beyond the current season. We see the extraordinary solidarity in the sporting area that has grown over the years as the ideal basis for the continued successful development of the club at all levels. Against this background, I am very pleased that the discussions have now led to a result that allows everyone at KSC to look forward with confidence.”
Eichner’s previous contract contained a release clause and he was previously attracting interest from clubs in the Bundesliga as well as recently relegated sides, Sky Germany reports the clause has been removed in his new deal. The 41-year-old decided to stay at KSC and is slowly developing into a potential Bundesliga-level manager.
Karlsruhe are currently fourth in the 2.Bundesliga but have recently hit the buffers having only one once in their last seven league matches, but due to the nature of Germany’s second division they still only remain two points off of first place, and one off of the promotion places.
